Sunshine Island Bornholm
Bornholm is often called the sunshine island, as the island has the most sunshine days in all of Denmark.
Here you will find Denmark's perhaps most famous sandy beach, Dueodde, with its fine, white sand. Bornholm can also offer dramatic granite cliffs, deep caves, exciting culture, architecture and history from several hundred years ago. Bornholm is a favorite holiday destination and a classic you like to visit several times.
We start as usual by picking up our passengers at the agreed terminals.
Then we take the Danish boat, Fjordline, from Bergen to Hirtshals. Here we enjoy ourselves on board the western archipelago towards Stavanger. After departure from Stavanger, we gather in the restaurant aft for a delicious buffet together.
After a good breakfast on board Fjordline, we leave the boat, and the bus sets course south of Denmark. We drive over the Lillebælt bridge to Funen, and pass Odense before we cross the first of two large bridges this day. The 6.7 kilometer long Storebælt bridge takes us over to Zealand and further towards Copenhagen. The trip continues over the next large bridge, the Øresund Bridge, which takes us to Sweden.
Once in Ystad, we take the ferry over to Rønne and Bornholm, where we check in at Hotel Griffen. Dinner at the hotel.
After breakfast we get a guided tour to the northern part of Bornholm. We follow the beautiful golden coast up to the medieval fortress Hammershus, built in the 13th century and is the largest in Northern Europe. We get to see several idyllic fishing villages dating back to the Middle Ages. Furthermore, we will visit Rundkirken in Østerlars. This is also Denmark's largest church.
This day we will visit the southern parts of Bornholm. We will visit Snogbæk Røgeri and among other things we visit the winery Lille Gadegaard where there will be an offer of wine tasting. Dinner at the hotel. After breakfast we take the ferry from Bornholm to Ystad. We drive through parts of Scania in Sweden, over the Øresund Bridge to Copenhagen. In Kongens by we get some time on our own on Strøget, and maybe buy lunch before we drive out to DFDS 'terminal and the ferry that takes us back to Oslo.
